Why Vilamendhoo Island Resort

Vilamendhoo Island Resort is the best-known house-reef 4★ in South Ari Atoll. The reef wraps the entire island and drops to a 25 m wall fifteen metres offshore — divers and snorkellers report seeing turtles, sharks, mantas (in season) without ever boarding a boat. 184 villas across beach and water types, a long-running PADI 5★ dive operation, and a serious whale-shark/manta excursion programme to the South Ari MPA next door. Best for divers on a 7+ night trip who want maximum unguided water time. Skip it if you want overwater villa luxury — the rooms here are simple and well-kept rather than design-led.
