Why Summer Island Maldives
Summer Island sits on Ziyaaraifushi in North Malé and has quietly built one of the more credible sustainability programmes in the mid-tier — 3D-printed coral reef installations on the house reef, glass-bottle filtered water in every villa, and a local-island-tied volunteer programme. 144 villas across beach and overwater. The reef is shallow and turtle-frequented; the dive school runs reasonable rates for the atoll. Best for couples and small families on a 5–7 night trip who want overwater living in the $300–500 range. Skip it for resort spectacle — it's quietly run rather than flashy.
