Niyama Private Islands sits in Dhaalu Atoll across two islands — Play and Chill — connected by a footbridge. The branding is unsubtle and so is the experience: Subsix, the country's only underwater club, sits 500 m offshore at six metres depth, hosting DJ nights for guests who fly in for the weekend; Edge is a treetop dining pavilion suspended above the lagoon; the gym is open 24/7. 134 villas, a strong dive operation in deep South Malé/Dhaalu currents, and food across nine restaurants. Best for younger couples and small groups who want a Maldives that does not turn the music off at 10pm. Skip it for honeymoons that lean quiet.
