Why Bandos Maldives
Bandos opened in 1972 as the country's second-ever resort and has been refurbished often enough since to feel current. The headline pull is the 15-minute speedboat from MLE — the shortest transfer to any resort — and a big-island feel with 226 villas, three pools, multiple restaurants, two dive centres, and a kids' club. Best for families with young kids breaking long-haul travel, or any guest who can't deal with a seaplane. Skip it if you want remote and intimate; Bandos is a bustling family resort, deliberately so.
